The Spiritual Gardener : Energy healing in the landscape

The Spiritual Gardener : Energy healing in the landscape

When I go to a sacred site like a disused well, or a neolithic site, or I go to energy-clear a property or tract of land, I often take an offering with me, something that I can leave for the Land Guardian as a gift, a thank you, an expression of gratitude for what has been revealed to me through the session.

In the Winter months, I'll take a handful of bird seed to leave by a tree at the edge of the property.

Sometimes, if I have date-expired biscuits either savoury or sweet, rather than putting them into my composting bin, I will break them down into tiny fragments, and after checking with the Land energies, I will leave a handful in the most appropriate place, also as a thank you for what has been revealed, and a means of expressing my gratitude for safe passage through the landscape.

Some landscapes are quite overgrown with weeds and brambles and it may be hard work to push through to the source that requires healing. Tuning into the energies of the Land, I ask whether an offering is required before progressing. When it is, I leave a handful of biscuit or petals or birdseed at the indicated place as an offering to the energies residing in the Land.

I only ever leave biodegradable items such as petals or fragments of biscuits or birdseed, things that will float away, breakdown or be consumed by animals and birds that live on the land. It is never my intention to bring rodent activity to an area as this can be destructive and compromise the integrity of the Land and space.

It would be irresponsible to leave behind litter, or plastic bags, or disposable water or drinks bottles or other packaging.

As well as irresponsible, it would be disrespectful and potentially have the power to undo parts of the healing work that has been undertaken at the subtle, energy levels.

In the Spring and Summer months when plants and flowers are losing their beautiful petals,  I make a point of keeping the petals and drying them out.

Hopefully by the Autumn, I will have some Lavender too.

This year, I have kept pink and white Tulip petals which I have already used, and which I gave as an offering to the Land spirits at the disused Physic Well near Cumnor in Oxfordshire. It was quite hard to locate, and even the local inhabitants remarked that they had never known what the space that the Well occupied really was. Not  only was the well not recognised as such by locals, but it had not been used as a healing well or sacred well since 1806! when it was decommissioned and apparently abandoned.

When we located the site of the well, to my great relief, the Lady of the Well, a beautiful, light energy land guardian was in attendance. Given the age of the well and its apparent abandonment this was really good to note. There was a faint smell of sulphur during our visit, and a previous account on a website that recorded the presence of the well indicated that a mineral content had been identified in the well, giving it a turquoise appearance, though the colour was not apparent during our visit.

Also at the well, there was a presence of negative energies and portals that formed almost as soon as we entered the space. Once I had established that a healing was required for the space and the well, and that the Land Guardian ~ the Lady of the Well ~ was comfortable with an energy healing for this space,  these negative energies and portals were neutralised and removed, as well as raising the overall vibration of the energies around the well.

Unfortunately, my companion was affected by the stagnant energies and required an energy clearing session there and then on the path through the woodland.

Curiously, I was unaffected and was wearing a Citrine pendant (Citrine is a self-cleansing crystal) that I believe helped prevent untoward energies from attaching to me. Usually, I wear Turquoise or Amethyst when I undertake energy Land clearings, so it was highly unusual for me to wear Citrine, but that morning as I prepared my tools for the day, I had allowed my guides to suggest my crystal choice. They had suggested Citrine, so I wore Citrine and experienced no ill effects.

It is important to remember that wells often contain stagnant waters as well as stagnant energies and it is inadvisable to disturb the waters by stepping into them or tossing stones to make a splash. For one thing, it is difficult to know the depth of such spaces, how they have been constructed, or maintained etc. Best to observe, rather than disturb.

I left dried Tulip petals beside the well as an offering. Only a matter of days before, these Tulip petals had been graceful and gracious beings brightening up my garden. It was good that the Lady of the Well was still in residence though if we had not been looking for the well site we would have kept walking unaware and without realising that there was a well there at all. From the path, hidden deep in the undergrowth, all that was seen was a dull grey sliver amid all the different green textures. Once energy cleared and the portals that opened spontaneously on our arrival were closed, the Physic well took on a completely different energy, and the vibrations around it felt as if they almost hummed. The heavy, cloying energies that had resided there, had all disappeared.

At the moment, I have beautiful Peonies that are just beginning to go over and as they drop their petals, fine like tissue paper, I am collecting them too. Placed in a ramekin on the side, they will stay there for a few days before being transferred to a paper bag, labelled, and then used when the next Site visit occurs. These Peonies were bought in loving memory of someone close to me who has passed over into Spirit. Although I have Peonies in the garden, mine are crimson, and these beautiful pink ones were needed as a form of remembrance last week. As their petals fall, these same petals will be gathered and held in love, and the sacred memory of remembrance will be honoured when the next site visit for energy clearing of land and property is required.

I always thank the plants and flowers that so graciously donate their petals to me and which I use during the course of my work. They have done their part in adorning my garden and home, making both look beautiful with their energies, colours and textures. Their soft energies uplifted me during their living period and by collecting their petals, it is my way of honouring them and using their elements in an appropriate way for something else holistic, rather than just depositing them in the garden waste bin.

Dried petals make beautiful, biodegradable offerings in the natural landscape.

If growing your own flowers is not possible then shop bought flowers, whether from a supermarket or a florist's, are perfect. I will cover the use of Intention with offerings in a later post.
